The Client

Krivi Energy was an up and coming player in the Indian solar energy industry, providing sustainable solar solutions for some of India's leading industrial, commercial and residential clients.

heir latest endeavour was setting up a fully integrated manufacturing facility in Gujarat enabling them to supply their own product range specially geared for the South Asian market.

Project Brief

The client wanted us to redesign their entire brand identity including their print stationery and corporate website. They needed a brand that reflected their comprehensive service offering and new market position.

They also needed to be able to update and manage the entire website without relying on external support.

THE CHALLENGE:
FROM UNDERDOG TO UNDERFIRE

Krivi Energy had expanded rapidly in a relatively short time from trading in solar panels to handling maintenance and EPC projects to now becoming a fully backwards integrated manufacturer of their own line of solar panels.

However, this meant they were now competing with much larger brands who were household names in the marketplace.

They therefore needed a more aggressive and distinct approach to branding themselves that would help differentiate them in a crowded marketplace.

CHANGING PERCEPTIONS

The new brand would also need to change customer perceptions from them being just a solar trading company to one that was fully backwards integrated, handling everything from manufacturing to complex EPC projects.

To put it simply, a re-designed brand that would get customers excited about Krivi while building awareness and inspiring trust.

our approach

Our goal was to create a hard-hitting new identity that would create impact and communicate the brand’s new industry position.

Since the clients logomark was already widely recognised across the industry, after several discussions we decided not to recreate the original logo. Instead, we re-created everything around the logomark from a fresh, bold and unique colour palette to a complete typographical system and a matching animated sub-mark that would play wingman to the original logomark.

The goal was to create a hard-hitting new identity that would create impact and communicate the brand’s new industry position. The new identity needed to work effectively across both, digital and print media from everyday corporate communications to email campaigns and international exhibitions.

THE SOLUTION
DISTINCT & IMPACTFUL

After working through several iterations with the client, we settled on a unique and unexpected dual colour palette, combining a deep purple with a vibrant orange hue. Building upon this theme, we selected Arial Black as our primary typeface pairing it with the logo as well as all page titles.

We used the rest of the Arial font family for our secondary typeface as it was a web-safe font and would work perfectly across older devices and applications. For our submark, we used the lightning symbol created by the negative space within the original logo, animating it to blink rapidly like actual lightning.

VISUALLY EMULATING THE SOLAR GRID

We wanted to create a design that gave a subtle nod to the product itself. The solution was simple. We created image grids not unlike the grids on the actual solar panels.

Only these images would animate to move apart as the user scrolled down the page. These were of course, used sparingly on the top level pages from the homepage to the Manufacturing and Solutions pages.

Project Outcome

After several rounds of testing, the final version of the website was uploaded in mid-2022.

We also worked with the client's team to get them up to speed on best practices for using the Content Management System (CMS) to ensure the site continued to work smoothly.

We also continued to provide usage support when it came to updating their investors page with the financial reports section as well as, minor changes to the site throughout the year.
